London’s Herrick Gallery is selling two pastels and eight drawings said to be by Francis Bacon for approximately $1.7 million. While the gallery’s owner believes that the works are in fact by Bacon, they were rejected by the author of a forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the artist’s work. The drawings are being sold by Cristiano Lovatelli Ravarino, one of Bacon’s former lovers.
