The Kunstmuseum in Bern, Switzerland, and the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, Germany, have delayed plans to exhibit works from Cornelius Gurlitt’s Nazi-era art hoard. The collection, which includes works by Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, and Marc Chagall, has been cloaked in controversy since Gurlitt bequeathed it to the Kunstmuseum upon his death in 2014. The museums had planned to showcase the works this winter, but a court in Munich will not rule on a challenge to Gurlitt’s will until after September, leaving the collection in limbo.
