The Frick Collection in New York has acquired 450 historical medals thanks to a promised gift from the Stephen K. and Janie Woo Scher Collection. The metal portraits will be exhibited at the museum in 2017. Often overlooked today, metal portraiture was a popular medium in Europe, especially during the period between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries.
