The New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) is in the midst of a year-long centennial celebration. Founded in 1916 by Sherrill Whiton, a distinguished architect and author of the classic tome Elements of Interior Decoration, the institution has grown into one of the most prestigious design schools in the country. Located in a Beaux-Arts building in the heart of Manhattan, NYSID has played a pivotal role in the development of interior design as a profession.
