The British artist Anish Kapoor unveiled a gory triptych of reliefs in the Rijksmuseum’s Gallery of Honour today (27 November), the Amsterdam museum’s most ceremonial space. Internal Object in Three Parts, which are large-scale works made of silicone, earth and pigment, refer to themes of “violence, trauma and social and political unrest,” according to the Dutch national museum’s press statement.

Yesterday we noticed that a copy of Anish Kapoor’s “Cloud Gate” in Chicago is in the works in Karamay, China, promoted as a giant, stainless steel drop of oil. The artist is still unknown, but it’s definitely not Kapoor, who was “shocked at the blatant plagiarism” of his work when news of the Cloud Gate-gate reached him in London.

“It seems that in China today it is permissible to steal the creativity of others,” Kapoor said in a statement sent to Hyperallergic. “I feel I must take this to the highest level and pursue those responsible in the courts. I hope that the Mayor of Chicago will join me in this action. The Chinese authorities must act to stop this kind of infringement and allow the full enforcement of copyright.”

The British artist Anish Kapoor, whose sculpture placed at the Palace of Versailles became known as the “queen’s vagina”, has lashed out at French “intolerance” after his work was vandalized. The work, entitled "Dirty Corner," was on Wednesday found sprayed with yellow paint and is now being cleaned by palace authorities.

On June 7, Anish Kapoor's newest sculptural interventions will be unveiled at the Palace of Versailles.

Kapoor's installation is part of a series of contemporary art exhibitions at Versailles that began in 2008 with a controversial Jeff Koons show, and has since included artists Xavier Veilhan, Takashi Murakami, and Joana Vasconcelos.

The Turner Prize winning artist Sir Anish Kapoor is currently presenting an exhibition of recent work at Regen Projects in Los Angeles. As one of the most influential sculptors of his generation, Kapoor’s work combines the formal concerns of minimalism with concerns for the material and psychical nature of both the object and the self. Known primarily for his large site-specific installations and objects that test the phenomenology of space, this exhibition features significant new work that pushes his use of materials into exciting new territories. Kapoor has shown with Regen Projects since 1992 and this marks the artist’s fifth solo exhibition at the gallery.

A series of monumental works feature organic, terrestrial forms made from resin and earth.

Anish Kapoor Gets Solo Show at Versailles

The London-based sculptor Anish Kapoor has been given a one-man show at the Château de Versailles in France. According to “The New York Times,” the show will open in June 2015 and run through October 2015.

Versailles’ former director, Jean-Jacques Aillagon, launched the museum’s contemporary art program in 2008. In addition to Kapoor, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, and Joana Vasconcelos have been given solo shows at Versailles. According to the museum’s website, “These encounters, sometimes emphasizing contrast and synthesis, show Versailles as a living site always open to creativity.”

Fondazione Prada, an Italian institution dedicated to contemporary art and culture, will unveil its expanded headquarters in Milan in May 2015. Established by the fashion power couple Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli in 1993, Fondazione Prada focuses on art, cinema, design, architecture, and philosophy. Instead of exhibiting studio work, the foundation helps artists produce site-specific projects that they have always dreamed of constructing. Fondazione Prada has organized exhibitions with a swath of celebrated artists, including Anish Kapoor, Dan Flavin, Louise Bourgeois, John Baldessari, and Walter de Maria.

Fondazione Prada has selected OMA, the firm co-founded by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, to helm the expansion project, which will turn a former industrial complex from the early twentieth-century into Milan’s largest contemporary art gallery.

Anish Kapoor the Turner Prize winning artist is to collaborate with the world famous aerobatic team “The Red Arrows” in an exciting new project, which will combine art with aviation in a unique and innovative way. The project, announced by Artliner, will be realised for the Farnborough International Air Show 2016.
 
The collaboration was initiated by Artliner, the organizers behind The Wind Tunnel Project, the 6-week exhibition held in the Grade I and II listed wind tunnels of Farnborough Airport which opened to the public for the first time in July. 2014 marks the Red Arrows’ 50th Display Season at the Farnborough International Air Show.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York is working with the Park Hyatt luxury brand on a collaboration that will mutually benefit guests and members of both global organizations. The collaboration coincides with MoMA’s Sigmar Polke retrospective, “Alibis: Sigmar Polke 1963-2010,” which was sponsored by Park Hyatt.

The Hyatt recently purchased “Siberian Meteorites,” an original work by the postwar German artist and it will be displayed at Park Hyatt Chicago later this year. The work will eventually replace Robert Rauschenberg’s “Tropicana/Channel,” which currently hangs in the hotel’s lobby. The Rauschenberg work is on loan from Hyatt’s Executive Chairman Tom Pritzker.

Widely considered one of the greatest sculptors of all time, British artist Henry Moore played a pivotal role in translating modernism into three dimensions. A new exhibition at the artist’s former home in Hertfordshire, England, examines the influence that Moore’s soaring, organic sculptures had on contemporary art.

“Body & Void: Echoes of Moore in Contemporary Art” presents works by some of the world’s most celebrated contemporary arts, including Damien Hirst, Rachel Whiteread, Antony Gormley, and Anish Kapoor. Works by a number of post-war artists, such as Joseph Beuys and Bruce Nauman, are also included in the exhibition. Site specific works by leading British artists Richard Deacon and Robert Long have been commissioned as part of the show.

“Body & Void” presents sculptures that examine Moore’s central themes, including the exploration of internal and external space, mother and child, and figures in a landscape, alongside contemporary works that touch on the same topics. For example, Hirst’s “Mother and Child (Divided),” a bisected cow and calf floating in giant tanks of formaldehyde, appears between Moore’s rose marble sculpture “Mother and Child” and “Stringed Mother and Child,” a single plaster cast that features two forms connected by a series of cords. The three works explore the same mother and child relationship in vastly different ways.

“Body and Void” fills the galleries and gardens at Perry Green, where Moore lived and worked for 50 years. The estate is also home to the Henry Moore Foundation, which was established by the artist in 1977. Although Moore amassed considerable wealth during his lifetime, he chose to live frugally and put most of his fortune towards endowing the Foundation, which continues to support education and promotion of the arts.  

“Body & Void: Echoes of Moore in Contemporary Art” will remain on view at Perry Green through October 26.
