A New Art Complex will Open in Zurich in June

Swiss dealer Bruno Bischofberger will open a gigantic new Zurich gallery to the public in June 2015 with a solo show by Spanish painter Miquel Barceló.

Spread over 250,000 square feet, the complex is currently open by appointment only. It comprises galleries, offices, storage, as well as spaces for Bischofberger's extensive art collection. A folk art museum is also in the pipeline.

The new complex has been years in the making and radically transforms the site of a former car factory in the south east of the city.

Soledad Lorenzo, one of Spain’s most important gallerists, has announced that she will donate her vast personal art collection to the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid. Featuring 385 artworks, the donation is composed in its majority of pieces from artists she exhibited in her gallery, including Antoni Tàpies, Miquel Barceló, Eduardo Chillida, Tony Oursler, George Condo, Julian Schnabel, Luis Gordillo, and Juan Uslé.

Museo Reina Sofía issued a press release stating that Lorenzo’s gift is of an unprecedented scale in Spain.
