In celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Color Charts inception, an exhibition of  Gerhard Richter's iconic paintings, selected from the artist’s original nineteen, 'Color Charts,' produced in 1966 is to be mounted at Dominique Lévy in London. Presented with the support of the Gerhard Richter Archive, the exhibition is the first exhibition to feature a small but vital group of works from this series since their inaugural appearance at Galerie Friedrich & Dahlem, Munich in 1966. The exhibition also includes a group of Color Charts painted in 1971, when Richter reexamined and expanded the series after a five-year hiatus.

"Intimacy" is not a word that first comes to mind when thinking about Alexander Calder's steel work. But when you step inside Dominique Levy's immaculate townhouse galleries on the Upper East Side, where some 40 rarely-seen Calder maquettes are on view, intimate is exactly how it feels.

Collaborating with architect Santiago Calatrava Lévy presents two floors of Calder's miniature (the smallest work is 1.5 inches tall) to table-top sized sculptures. Many have not been on view since his MoMA retrospective in 1943.

Ed Ruscha’s art exudes humor and honesty. What you see is what you get. Subsequent viewings won’t reveal hidden depths in it. And they make you feel really good.

Perhaps, that’s the reason why Parisian art dealer Thomas Bompard asked several international art dealers to lend Galerie Gradiva works by Ruscha from their private collections to be displayed ‘just like at home,’ on the walls of an 18th-century private mansion opposite the Louvre. Larry Gagosian, Dominique Lévy, Enrico Navarra, Almine Rech and Paolo Vedovi accepted to play along.

Works by American artist Frank Stella are currently being featured in three exhibitions organized by leading galleries. Dominique Lévy is inaugurating her London outpost with the show “Local History: Castellani, Judd, Stella,” which is complemented by a partner exhibition of the same title at her Manhattan gallery. Meanwhile, Marianne Boesky Gallery is hosting a show of Stella’s sculptures in New York. Stella is co-represented by Lévy and Boesky.

Stella, who has been a dominant figure in abstract painting since the early 1960s, is best known for his Minimalist works and post-painterly abstractions. He gained immediate recognition in 1959, thanks to his “Black Paintings” -- a series of precisely-striped canvases that were created according to a predetermined, circumscribed system conceived by the artist.

 New York-based gallerist Dominique Lévy announced that she will open a London outpost this fall. Dominique Lévy London will be located at 22 Old Bond Street within a 19th-century building constructed by the Duveen family. Just steps from the city’s elegant Mayfair district, the building was designed to resemble a Venetian palazzo.

Much like Lévy’s eponymous New York gallery, which is located in a designated landmark building on Madison Avenue, Dominique Lévy London will focus on European and American postwar and contemporary art with curated exhibitions devoted to historical figures as well as living artists. The gallery will also specialize in private sales in the secondary market; produce original scholarship and publications; provide advisory and collection management services; and participate in international art fairs.

Art Basel, the most anticipated art fair in the world, will be held from June 13-16, 2013 in Switzerland. A VIP preview and vernissage were held on June 11 and June 12 respectively and included the $12 million sale of Alexander Calder’s (1898-1976) Sumac (1961) by London’s Helly Nahmad Gallery.

Now in its 44^th year, Art Basel welcomes 304 international exhibitors to Messe Basel, a venue situated at the border of Switzerland, France and Germany. The fair presents the finest works of modern and contemporary art by more than 4,000 artists. Works on view include paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, photographs, video and editioned works. The show is split into eight sectors – Galleries, Feature, Statements, Edition, Unlimited, Parcours, Film, and Magazines – and allows patrons to explore the many facets of modern and contemporary art including museum-quality paintings, curated projects, and site-specific artworks.  

The remarkable roster of exhibitors includes Acquavella Galleries Inc. (New York), Castelli Gallery (New York), Gagosian Gallery (multiple locations), Hauser & Wirth (Zurich/New York), Dominique Levy (New York), and Lisson Gallery (Milan/London).

Art Basel offers a full program of events including symposiums, artist talks, and lectures. Featured participants include Massimiliano Gioni, curator of the 55^th Venice Biennale and Director at the New Museum, and Hans Ulrich Obrist, co-director of the Serpentine Gallery in London.
