Ten masterpieces of French painting are currently on view at China’s National Museum in Beijing. The exhibition, which was organized by the National Museum and the Réunion des musées nationaux - Grand Palais in Paris, is part of an ongoing series of events commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between France and China.

The paintings are on loan from France’s most celebrated institutions -- the Musée du Louvre, the Château de Versailles, the Musée d’Orsay, the Musée Picasso, and the Centre Pompidou, musée national d’Art moderne. The show marks the first time that these renowned institutions have collaborated on an exhibition. Works on view include Jean-Honore Fragonard’s “The Bolt;” Georges de La Tour’s “Saint Joseph Carpenter;” Pablo Picasso’s “Reading the Letter” and “The Matador;” Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s “Dance at Le moulin de la Galette” and “The Swing;” Jean Clouet’s “Francois I of France;” Hyacinthe Rigaud’s “King Louis XIV of France at age of 63;” and Fernand Leger’s “Three Figures.”    

“Ten Masterpieces of French Painting” will remain on view at the National Museum through June 16.

Rubens, van Dyck and the Flemish School of Painting: Masterpieces from the Collections of the Prince of Liechtenstein is currently on view at the National Museum of China in Beijing. The exhibition features 100 works of Flemish art from the 16^th and 17^th centuries and marks the first time that such an remarkable selection of works from the Flemish Painting School has gone on view in China.

All of the paintings, prints and tapestries on view are part of the Princely Collections – the result of over 400 years of continuous art collection by the Princely Family of Liechtenstein. Prince Karl I of Liechtenstein laid the foundations for the collections, which include numerous masterpieces of European art, in 1600. Since then, the Princely House has supplemented, consolidated and expanded the collections.

The exhibition, which includes works by Peter Paul Rubens, Anthonis van Dyck and the Brueghel family of artists, will be on view at the National Museum of China through February 15, 2014. In March 2014, the exhibition will travel to the China Art Museum in Shanghai.

Following a 3-year face lift, China's National Museum reopened on Tuesday in Beijing. As part of the extensive renovations, the museum now stands at over 2 million square feet with 49 rooms, according to Xinhua News.

The museum now holds some 1 million cultural relics, and has an 800-seat theater, and a 300-seat conference room, according to Shanghaiist.com.
