The International Fine Art & Antiques Show is shaking things up for its 27th iteration. Held at the distinguished Park Avenue Armory from October 23–29, 2015, the fair will debut a new name and logo as well as an updated marketing aesthetic. Now simply called The International Show, the fair, which has historically featured fine art and antiques, will also include twentieth century and contemporary art and design. According to Anna Haughton, who organizes the fair alongside Brian Haughton, “20th century/contemporary design/works of art, now a fully ensconced collecting area at the fair, is represented by exceptional dealers.” The fair has also added “Art, Antiques and Design” to its title to cover the three major categories represented at the fair. Christie’s presents the sale of three works by Carl Andre, Sol LeWitt, and Dan Flavin from the collection of Paul Maenz to be sold in the evening sale of Post-War and Contemporary Art on November 10th. Through his gallery and the artists he represented, Paul Maenz had a profound impact on Cologne’s importance as a cultural and artistic center. Specialized in works by conceptual artists early on, the Galerie Paul Maenz Köln was instrumental in introducing avant-garde art of the 1970s and 1980s to Europe. New York and Cologne have had a decisive influence on the art world, both cities afford the kind of climate that artists value and possess intuitions that both challenge and support the art scene.

When Fredric Brandt, the plastic surgeon to the stars, took his own life earlier this year, he left behind a trove of artworks that might have surprised those who thought his tastes were purely cosmetic. His collection, scattered between his homes in New York and Miami, includes works by Wool, Baldessari, Stingel, and Oehlen, and when it came time to find an auction house for the estate, Phillips emerged victorious after a fairly competitive jostle. It began readying the sale of 200 works, valued at $15 million in total, and 18 of these works went on sale tonight, at the house’s contemporary art evening sale in London.

The works donated by Thea Westreich Wagner and Ethan Wagner will be exhibited from Nov. 20 through March 6, 2016.

The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden has received a $2 million gift from trustee Joleen Julis and her husband, Mitch, museum officials announced. The donation is the largest gift from an individual ever made to the Smithsonian’s modern and contemporary art museum.

The donation will establish the “Future Fund,” a $4 million effort to re-design the museum’s lobby and sculpture garden, according to Hirshhorn Director Melissa Chiu.

By way of Instagram and a showing in Hong Kong, Sotheby's unveiled yet another blockbuster consignment for the upcoming fall contemporary season, Andy Warhol's massive Mao, an 82-by-57-inch silkscreen executed in 1972.

The work, which is expected to realize $40 million at Sotheby's evening contemporary sale on November 11, is the earliest iteration of the cycle that marked Warhol's return to painting after a seven-year hiatus following his "Flowers" series.

Brandeis University’s Rose Art Museum has opened an offsite gallery in an empty commercial space in downtown Waltham, Massachusetts, the Boston suburb that the Rose calls home.

Named Rosebud, the gallery will showcase video work from the museum’s collection and, according to a news release, aims to “activate public engagement with contemporary art through curated exhibitions and programs that revive underutilized properties in the city of Waltham.”
