Tate Modern will next year present shows devoted to two giants of 20th-century art, the American artists Georgia O’Keeffe and Robert Rauschenberg.

Announcing its 2016 program, Tate also revealed that the works of Francis Bacon will be on display at its outpost in Liverpool, Paul Nash at Tate Britain, and a solo show by the young British artist Jessica Warboys at St Ives.

Louise Mirrer, President and CEO of the New-York Historical Society, today announced the appointment of curator Margaret K. Hofer to the role of Vice President and Director of its Museum division. Ms. Hofer has contributed to or overseen New-York Historical’s decorative arts collections and exhibitions for over two decades, and spearheaded the groundbreaking 2007 exhibition and publication A New Light on Tiffany: Clara Driscoll and the Tiffany Girls, which revealed previously unrecognized achievements of Tiffany Studios’ women designers.

Minneapolis Institute of Arts (MIA) photo curator David Little is decamping from Minnesota to Massachusetts where he will become the Director and Chief Curator of the Mead Art Museum at Amherst College starting August 31.

In his seven year tenure at the MIA, Little organized more than 20 exhibitions including “The Sports Show,” a pioneering 2012 examination of the history of sports photography.

Jasper Johns is behind a new venue in New York’s Meatpacking District dedicated exclusively to artist-curated exhibitions. Last year, Johns suggested that the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, the non-profit he founded with the composer John Cage, convert a 496-square-foot room next to its offices into a project space. (It was previously used for the occasional meeting.) The board agreed. With that, the Other Room—the foundation’s first foray into public programming—was born.

Paris Photo returns to Los Angeles on May 1 for its third year — this time headed up by the newly appointed director team of Florence Bourgeois and Christoph Wiesner. Seventy-nine exhibitors — that is, 70 international galleries and nine booksellers — will set up at Paramount studios to show their top photogs, including 39 single-artist presentations and 20 booths devoted to “young galleries,” from Tehran’s AG GALERIE to LA natives Little Big Man.

On May 1, Pulitzer Arts Foundation celebrates the opening of its newly constructed galleries with solo exhibitions of Alexander Calder, Richard Tuttle, and Fred Sandback, and the debut of the program series "Press Play."

Presented in the Pulitzer’s light-filled upper galleries, "Calder Lightness" conveys a sense of weightlessness through the artist’s iconic hanging mobiles, standing mobiles, and constellations.

The Harvard Art Museums have named Edouard Kopp the Abrams associate curator of drawings in the museums’ division of European and American Art, officials announced this week. Overseeing the collection of pre-twentieth century drawings, Kopp will develop exhibitions and public lectures while organizing the rotation of works on paper within many of the museums’ galleries. 

Previously, Kopp served as associate curator of drawings for the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, where he was responsible for French and Germanic drawings.

Pulitzer Arts Foundation, located in St. Louis, will reopen on May 1 following a major renovation that has transformed the lower level of its Tadao Ando-designed building and nearly doubled its public space. Conceived to enhance the Pulitzer’s curatorial and public program, the construction project repurposed offices and storage into 3,700 square feet of new galleries to accommodate additional exhibitions, artist-driven activities, and collaborations. The Pulitzer building is Ando’s first free-standing, public project in the United States, and the renovation, completed in consultation with Ando’s office, marks the first alteration to the building since it opened in 2001.

Today, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced its plans for the opening of The Met Breuer, the building formerly housing the Whitney Museum. With the Whitney's move into their brand new building at the edge of the High Line and opening this May, the Met has finally publicized its plans for its takeover of the old museum site. With an opening planned for March 10, 2016, the Met's contemporary and modern art department will feature multiple exhibitions and programs at the Breuer Building.

A boxy, drab concrete building, the Madison Avenue structure was designed by Hungarian Marcel Breuer and built in 1966 specifically to house the collection that Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney left behind.

David A. Brenneman, director of collections and exhibitions at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, has been appointed director of the Indiana University Art Museum. He will begin as director July 1.

“David Brenneman possesses an exceptional amount of experience and expertise in the art museum field, and he has spearheaded the development of several innovative projects and exhibitions that have proven special in their ability to appeal to longtime arts patrons, while also attracting new audiences to the museum,” IU President Michael A. McRobbie said.
